Laugharne

A small coastal town on the Taf Estuary in southwest Wales, best known as the home of poet Dylan Thomas, who lived in the Boathouse here from 1949 until his death in 1953. The Boathouse is now a museum dedicated to his life and work, and his writing shed (preserved as he left it) overlooks the estuary. Thomas is buried in the churchyard of St Martin's. Other attractions include the ruins of Laugharne Castle and the wide tidal estuary itself, which inspired much of Thomas's writing. The town center has Georgian buildings, a market hall, and traditional pubs.
