Mürren
Mürren is a car-free Alpine village perched on a cliff above the Lauterbrunnen Valley at 1,650 metres, with some of the most spectacular mountain views in Switzerland — the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau fill the horizon directly across the valley. Accessible only by cable car from Grütschalp or from Stechelberg via Gimmelwald, the village has preserved its traditional character of wooden chalets and quiet lanes. It is the base for the cable car ascent to the Schilthorn at 2,970 metres, where the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant — famous as a James Bond film location — offers a 360-degree panorama of over 200 peaks. Easy walking paths connect Mürren to Gimmelwald and extend across flower-filled mountain meadows in summer.
