Leuven

Leuven is a beautiful city full of historic buildings, including the Grand Place, which is one of the most beautiful squares in Belgium. Leuven (Louvain in French) is also home to a number of excellent museums.

The city has a rich history dating back to medieval times and is known for its well-preserved architecture, charming cobblestone streets, and lively cultural scene.

One of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe is here, the KU Leuven, founded in 1425. The presence of the university gives the city a vibrant and youthful atmosphere, with a diverse international community. Due to this large student population, there is always something going on.

Town Hall

The centuries-old town hall is the pride of Leuven. It is also one of the most famous Gothic town halls in the world. The first stone was laid in 1439. Construction took thirty years and had three master builders. The late Gothic St. Peter's Church is located just opposite the town hall. Visit the Grand Place, a bustling hub with numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops.

Stella Artois Brewery

Beer enthusiasts will appreciate Leuven's beer culture, as it is a significant producer of beer, with Stella Artois being one of its most famous exports. The Stella Artois brewery, part of the largest brewery group in the world AB InBev, is still firmly rooted in its hometown of Leuven.

Leuven is also a major economic center, with a number of large multinational companies headquartered in the city.

The M Leuven Museum houses a collection of art and artifacts from the Middle Ages to the present day. The collection mainly focuses on art production in Leuven and Brabant from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. With Constantin Meunier, Jef Lambeaux and Georges Minne, among others. In addition to the permanent collection, M presents temporary exhibitions of both old masters and contemporary artists.

Located about 25 kilometers east of Brussels, Leuven is the capital of the province of Flemish Brabant.
